Joe Houska  & Celia Landman

Each Monday we will explore some aspect of Nonviolent Communication (“NVC”).  NVC, also known as Compassionate Communication, was created by Marshall Rosenberg as a technique to communicate more effectively both within ourselves and with others that leads to more connection, understanding, authenticity, peace and ultimately more joyful receiving and giving.

New to NVC?  That’s awesome!
We work with what we call “Needs,”
what we are really wanting/valuing/yearning for,
and “Feelings” that let us know what we need.

Visit when you can and feel free to invite anyone.
CELIA LANDMAN, MA (Mindfulness Studies) is a dedicated practitioner offering mindfulness support to teens and adults. In 2016 she was ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh as a member of the Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism. She has worked with hundreds of teens and folks impacted by trauma, addiction, and anxiety creating customized meditation, visualizations, and trainings to reconnect with wholeness. Her greatest aspiration is to help others recognize their true nature of love and ability.

JOE HOUSKA’s yearning for a deeper understanding and connection led to his passion for Nonviolent Communication (“NVC”). His greatest desire is to share these teachings and the resulting increase in self-empowerment with others.  Joe has been a practicing attorney for 30 years and holds a JD from Loyola Law School and an MBA from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.  As a mediator, Joe helps others find more satisfying resolution to conflict, and offers interactive trainings in nonviolent power (the power of love) and NVC.

Love the one you’re with: Yourself!

Are you working to love others but find it hard to love the one you’re with…Yourself? In this last of the “Best Ever,” series, we will explore techniques that enable us to open our hearts to ourselves, exactly as we are right now. When we are able to love ourselves, we have something to share with others.

“Until we are able to love and take care of ourselves, we cannot be much help to others.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

I Am Not Needy!

Do you have trouble knowing what you want, or feel uncomfortable, imagining that you’re “needy” if you focus on your needs?  In our first training, entitled “I Am Not Needy!” we look at conditioning that causes us to deny our needs and give ourselves permission to love what we truly need instead of judging ourselves as being needy.
